Let's Be Pro-Choice, Really

If, as a woman I choose to exercise my reproductive rights, wouldn't all of you support me? It is my body after all. If I make an appointment with a person, and lie back on a table and have him manipulate my sex organs, then some money changes hands and we both go away, isn't that my choice? And the supreme court covered my butt (pardon the pun) with that ground-breaking case Roe vs. Wade. So why then are our fellow progressives still being arrested and prosecuted, and persecuted, for this constitutionally guaranteed right to privacy?

For those few short-bus-riding conservatives who may be reading this blog right now, let me explain that I am not referring to an abortion. What I am describing is not my right to end the results of my sexuality but the more basic and fundamental right to sell my sexual services. That's right, I said it! It is time we progressives stood up for all of our rights.

Let us compare the two situations: both involve a transaction between (usually) two people, wherein money is exchanged for the manipulation of a woman's reproductive system. The only differences are the direction the money flows, and the fact that one could possibly result in a pregnancy, and the other puts an end to a pregnancy. The differences are too subtle to be of significance. We need to stand strong behind our fellow women and protect all of our reproductive rights. Who is with me?
